Summer Term No.7 '08

6th January 2009

Dear Parent/Carers,

I hope you and your family have had a restful and enjoyable  Christmas and New Year.  We are very much looking forward to this Spring Term and have many exciting activities planned, including a pantomime and a number of themed activity days.  We continue to invite individuals and groups to the school to enrich our curriculum and to support all  our children in their learning.

You will, during the next week, receive information about the topics your child will be studying this term and should you have any resources or expertise relevant to these areas which could further enhance the children’s learning, we would love to hear from you!

As always, we welcome parental support within the school, and if you feel you might be able to spare some time, however little, however infrequently, please do let us know.  It can make such a difference!  As you will already be aware, in the interests of pupils’ saftey, before working with children in school, all volunteers are required to undertake a CRB check through the school.  These checks usually take between one and three weeks to be completed and notice of clearance given.  Therefore, if you think you may like to come into school this term, please see Sue Thompson in the school office for a form and details.  Thank you.

Our fortnightly newletter is a vital channel of communication between school and home and provides, in addition to news in general, regular updates on forthcoming events.  I very much hope you are able to find the time to read this letter when your child brings it home.  I would be very pleased to hear your views and suggestions about further information you might like to receive in the newsletter.

In school, we regularly seek and seize opportunities to reinforce important messages about learning, independence and taking responsibility for the choices we make, and your support in this is, of course, critical.  By giving  a clear and consistent message about expectations and boundaries, we are together giving your child the very best opportunity to make good choices, to develop independence, and most importantly, to take responsibility for his/her learning.

Thank you for your continued involvement and interest in the life of the school.

With my very best wishes to you and your family for the New Year.

Yours sincerely,

Vyveanne Francis
