We welcome you to Brickhill Lower School website. Through this website we aim to bring together an informative account of what we stand for and what we provide; our policies, our routines and our procedures. Whether you are reading this as a parent of an existing pupil or as a prospective one, as an old friend of the school or as a friend to be, we hope you find it useful.

Welcome

Building a better future for your child

Brickhill Lower School is a caring community school for children between the ages of four and nine, situated in a residential area to the north of Bedford. We are a diverse and inclusive school which provides an enjoyable and purposeful learning environment for all pupils.

We actively celebrate pupils’ achievements in all areas of our broad and balanced curriculum, and our goal is to combine excellence in teaching with enjoyment of learning.

The school has been awarded many accreditations for its participation and high standards in a variety of areas including Healthy Schools, Silver Sports Mark, Eco School Bronze Award, Basic Skills in Numeracy and Literacy

When an Ofsted team of school inspectors visited in 2010 to report on our achievements they stated that pupils at Brickhill Lower School ‘greatly enjoy school and feel very safe and secure”, and that “their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development was outstanding”.   It is a description we have sought to not only maintain but build upon. Our next Ofsted inspection is eagerly anticipated.

For some years now the school has had a good reputation for the academic standards that children attain by the time they leave us aged 9, but we are determined not to rest on our past achievements and we will continue to focus not only on raising standards even further but ensuring that all the children are happy, safe and enjoy coming to school.

I have only been part of the school since September 2012 but I am tremendously honoured to serve as Headteacher. I am also very proud of the pupils and staff who work extremely hard every day to strengthen and improve on the learning experience for all.

If you would like to visit us, we would be very pleased to hear from you and to show you around our school. I trust that your association with us will be a long and happy one.
